Erstwilder is one of the most popular brands in the brooching world. They are what I call the ‘starter’ brand as they are the brand that pretty much all broochies start with as they are easy to find and affordable. What’s special about Erstwilder brooches?
Erstwilder brooches have smooth edges that is very unusual for a brooch. They also have a wide range of pieces and collection making them ideal for beginner broochies. They also come in a round box which is one of the things they are most well known for. Sometimes the boxes can vary such as different patterns or in shape. Examples of this is the Beatrix Potter range with special coloured boxes and the Valentine’s day collection with red heart shaped boxes. Each brooch also comes with a story card attached to the inside of the box which is also unique.

Erstwilder collections have some pieces sell out in 5 minutes where others take a couple of hours or weeks before they are gone. It is typical for usually 3 to 8 brooches sell out on release day out of the usual 15 to 20 pieces collections.

Erstwilder are the largest producer of brooches because they outsource the making of their brooches to China. So typically they make around 300 to 400 of each individual piece in a collection.
How collectable are these brooches?
Erstwilder is very collectable but some collections and pieces are more collectable and sought out than others. For example, the 2019 Erstwilder X Pete Cromer collection is very collectable with people trying to find the whole collection after all pieces sold out. Older and original Erstwilder designed are also very collectable and can be worth up ro $500.
